Caribe EWS - Group of Experts (GoE) on work and implementation plan to enhance the warning system by including other coastal hazards

Purpose:

To develop and recommend to the ICG/CARIBE EWS a strategy, actions and implementation plan to enhance the warning system by including other coastal hazards.

Functions:

1. Advise and seek advice from member states about how other coastal hazards should be further addressed and promoted as part of CARIBE EWS. 

2. Determine the scope and the stakeholders who should be involved in the planning to enhance the warning system by including other coastal hazards.

3. Identify the opportunities, difficulties and challenges existing in the region for effective implementation of a plan to enhance the early warning system by including other coastal hazards.

4. Establish strategies for the development and implementation of the plan to enhance the warning system by including other coastal hazards.

5. Develop an action plan composed of action steps, responsibilities, timelines, cost estimations, indicators and communications strategy.

6. Support the implementation of the plan to enhance the warning system by including other coastal hazards.

7. Promote the sharing of multi coastal hazard early warning experiences, expertise and capacity building.

Experts in the field of Coastal Multi Hazard Early Warning System issued from:

1. Nominations from CARIBE EWS Member States, trying to ensure from:

     a. Representatives of CARIBE EWS NTWCs

     b. Representatives of CARIBE EWS TWFPs

     c. Representatives of CARIBE EWS TNCs

2. Experts from:

     a. Regional, National and Local (Coastal) Disaster Management Organizations

     b. CMO/WMO

     c. Caribbean Community Center for Climate Change

     d. Coastal Zone Management or like Agencies

     e. Research, Academic and Technical  Sector

     f. Private Sector

     g. Coastal Communities

     h. Coastal Community Governments

     i. UNESCO/IOC and UN bodies (eg. IOCARIBE, UNISDR)

     j. Others from Coastal Multi Hazards Warning System

     k. Representatives of Regional Emergency Management Organizations (CEPREDENAC, CDEMA, EMIZA)
