ICG/CARIBE-EWS Working Groups

The Intergovernmental Coordination Group meets regularly to establish and implement working plans in the Caribbean region. To address specific technical issues, it has formed four working groups:

Working Group 1 – Risk Knowledge Chair: Dr Frederic Dondin (University of the West Indies, Seismic Research Centre, France); Vice-Chair: Dr Raphaël Paris (Observatoire de Physique du Globe de Clermont-Ferrand, France). 

Working Group 2 – Tsunami Detection, Analysis and Forecasting  Chair: Dr Elizabeth Vanacore (Puerto Rico Seismic Network, USA); Vice-Chair for Tsunami Source Identification and Characterization: Dr Daniel McNamara (United States Geological Survey, USA); Vice-Chair for Tsunami Detection: Ms Gloria Romero (Fundacion Venezolana de Investigaciones Sismologicas, Venezuela); Vice-Chair for Tsunami Forecasting: Dr Christopher Moore (NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, USA).

Working Group 3 – Tsunami Warning Dissemination and Communication  Chair: Ms Christa von Hillebrandt-Andrade (NOAA/NWS, International Tsunami Information Center Caribbean Office, USA); Vice-Chair: Ms Susan Hodge (Department of Disaster Management, Anguilla).

Working Group 4 – Preparedness and Response Capabilities – Chair: Dr Silvia Chacon (Sistema Nacional de Monitoreo de Tsunamis (SINAMOT), Costa Rica); Vice-Chair for Preparedness and Response capabilities: Mr Jacob Ngumbah (Nevis Disaster Management Department, St Kitts and Nevis); Vice-Chair for Mitigation: Ms Stacey Edwards (University of the West Indies, Seismic Research Centre, Trinidad and Tobago); Vice-Chair for Tsunami Ready: Mr Fabian Hinds (Coastal Zone Management Unit, Barbados).
