ICG/IOTWMS Working Groups

Working Group 1 on Tsunami Risk, Community Awareness and Preparedness

The current Working Group 1 was established at the ICG/IOTWS-X meeting in Muscat, Oman, 24-26 March 2015.  It formed via the merger of former WG1 and former WG3.*  

Working Group 2 on Tsunami Detection, Warning and Dissemination

The current Working Group 2 was established at the ICG/IOTWS-VII meeting in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, 14-16 April 2010.

Working Group 3 on Tsunami Ready Implementation

The current Working Group 3  was established at the ICG/IOTWS-XIII meeting in Bali, Indonesia, 28 November - 1 December 2022.

Subregional Working Group for the North West Indian Ocean

The Subregional Working Group for the North West Indian Ocean was established at the ICG/IOTWS-X meeting in Muscat, Oman, 24-26 March 2015.                       

*Prior to the ICG/IOTWS-X meeting, there were three Working Groups:

WG1: Tsunami Risk Assessment and Reduction (comprised of former WG3)

WG2: Tsunami Detection, Warning and Dissemination (comprised of former WG1, WG2, WG4, WG5)

WG3: Tsunami Awareness and Response (comprised for former WG6)

**Prior to the ICG/IOTWS-VII meeting, there were six Working Groups:

WG1: Seismic Measurements, Data Collection and Exchange

WG2: Sea Level Data Collection and Exchange, Including Deep Ocean Tsunami Detection

WG3: Risk Assessment

WG4: Modelling, Forecasting and Scenario Development

WG5: the Establishment of a System of Interoperable Advisory and Warning Centres and the RTWP Task Team

WG6: Mitigation, Preparedness and Response
